Planning and Development

The Department of Planning and Development assists the Mayor and Common Council in ensuring orderly growth and development in the areas of planning, zoning, community development, and economic development. We work with residents, business owners, developers, and other local, state and federal agencies to positively affect community growth, residential growth, and economic growth

This Department is responsible for determining, directing and coordinating all physical, environmental, transportation and land use activities throughout the City of Oneida. Implementation of the overall growth and development policies of the Mayor and the Common Council are the responsibility of the Department of Planning.

The Department of Planning is empowered by the Mayor and Common Council to develop the City's comprehensive plan, and to administer the master plan, Zoning Regulations, site plan ordianance, subdivision regulations, etc.

Professional planning guidance and recommendations to the Planning Commission and Zoning Board are also provided by the Department. For more information, please see Department Commissions
