MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the City Clerk’s office is to continue to be the
official custodian of all city records, keep minutes of meetings of
the Common Council and act as the Registrar of Vital Statistics in
and for the City; to provide legislative support to the Mayor and
Common Council, issue all permits and licenses; oversee all
elections in the City and administer the oath of office to all City
officials, in a professional manner.

The City Clerk wears many different hats. She is the official custodian of all City records, serves as Registrar of Vital Records, Records Access Officer, Disabled Access Officer, and is ex-officio Clerk to the Common Council.
As ex-officio Clerk to the Common Council, the Clerk is responsible for the official minutes and records of the Common Council, preparation of their agendas, resolutions, and correspondences. The Clerk publishes legal notices of hearings held before the Common Council and Mayor.
All City licenses and/or permits are issued by the Clerk such as alarm permits, amusement device licenses, animal control permits, excavation permits, garbage licenses, solicitor licenses, taxi licenses, wood stove permits, Madison County Landfill stickers and coupons. State licenses such as marriage and dog licenses are also issued by the Clerk.
Applications for disabled parking permits may be obtained from the Clerk. You must reside in the City of Oneida to obtain the permit.
The public has the right to access City records. Freedom of Information applications are available in the Clerk's Office. She is responsible for reviewing all requests.
The Clerk is responsible for elections held in the City, and swears in all elected officials. Commissioners appointed by the Mayor are also sworn in by the Clerk.
As Registrar of Vital Records, the Clerk records all births and deaths occurring in the City. One original birth certificate is issued to parents free. Copies of birth, and death certificates may be obtained at the Clerk's Office for a fee of $10.00.
